Question

I have this exquisite still shot, Felicity and Elizabeth dancing at the ball,as my desktop. Do the Felicity books make reference to specific songs that the girls dance to? Does anyone know of a CD of appropriate music I can get from Amazon or other source that would be close to what Felicity would hear at her dancing lessons and balls?

In the AG Club of long ago, Pleasant Company sent members "handbooks" that featured six crafts or projects relating to each of the five girls at the time (Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly). In addition to all the projects, each girl had a "want to know more?" section that listed various fiction, nonfiction, movies, real-life places to visit, and ... music! that each girl might have listened to. I don't know how many of these Felicity would have actually danced to, but this is the list as it appears in the handbook:

Music from Felicity's Time:
- String quartets and piano sonatas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
- String quartets and symphonies by Franz Joseph Haydn
- English ballads, such as "Mr. Froggie Went a Courtin'" and "Billy Boy"
- Revolutionary War songs such as "Yankee Doodle" and "Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier"

I would imagine you could find recordings of these songs at a library. Hope it helps a bit!

Well I don't know of any specific music, but I'm planning a Felicity Premiere Party and in one of the party books it suggests classical music like Johan Sebastian Bach. Also "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was popular, according to this book. But that probably isn't appropriate for a ball.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You're right, the Revolutionary songs probably wouldn't have been too popular at an English Governor's ball. I'd go for the string quartets by Mozart, Haydn and Bach.

In one of the Felicity books it said that Felicity went home humming the Minuet after lessons. and on one of the Felicity movie e-cards it played the Minuet also.
